Provence a place of natural beauty and rustic style, a must see, or so I was told; so when an invite came through the door for my brother-in-laws wedding to be held in this very place there was no way I was turning it down!

The wedding was set 10 minutes from Avignon in a walled city famous for the song Sur le Pont d’Avignon (a song I have to admit I have never sang but one that every person I talk to seems to have at some point during their school days; maybe I’m just not old enough!).

Not only famous for the song Avignon is also home to The Pope’s Palace the Petit Palais and the Cathedral of Doms with a square renowned for its baroque facades, a feast for the eyes as far as architecture is concerned.

The venue Les Moulin des Gaffins is a beautiful gite style building set in 1.5 hectares of garden, with its very own swimming pool and provincial style rooms, complete with shabby chic furniture and accessories giving it rustic charm by the bucketload! Everywhere I looked there was something I wish I could have taken home.

The bedrooms were all beautifully finished in a shabby chic furniture and decor all in-keeping with the style of the venue and the beauty that surrounded it, definitely a place of interior inspiration.

The wedding; classic French, chic and rustic with every detail considered. A pure white theme with wooden accessories in keeping with the rustic surroundings, with simple rope and brown parcel tags to string the pieces together.

White lanterns decorated the gardens around the venue, with a Polaroid style frame for guests to capture the moment on camera. A theme carried on from the initial invites showing three hearts mapping where the bride and groom met, were engaged and finally married was also incorporated.

The bride’s carriage, a VW Beetle convertible of course! The reception lavish with plenty of fizz flowing and stations of canapés set up with a number of French delicacies to try out (the fresh cut cured ham and cheeses was a particular favourite!).

The tables, beautifully decorated with mirrors and tall vases with only white Gypsophila, which despite its simplicity created great impact; candles were also lit to create the perfect mood lighting for the meal.

Classic French Style

Overall I have to say possibly the best wedding I have ever been to, with an after party to rival any celeb do!

And you didn’t think I would finish without showing you the blushing bride in her stunning dress did you? So here it is….
