As we near the end of the British Summer, we are all hoping for a last-minute Indian Summer affair – I mean, we deserve it don’t we after all this rain!  And, as the summer draws to a close, so to does the manic main wedding season…but we’re hoping to get a few more last-minute al fresco weddings should our Indian Summer wish come true!

If you are holding your wedding reception outdoors, look for shabby chic furniture and garden accessories for a vintage touch to your special day.  Outdoor garden accessories with a vintage feel are increasing in popularity – and are perfect for quaint and intimate wedding receptions being held at home and in the garden.

Recreating a shabby chic style for your wedding probably means that your home is designed in the same way – so extending it out to your garden is a natural progression.  After the wedding, you will be able to keep the accessories in your garden – or bring them out in Summertime – which will be a lovely reminder of your wedding and will keep your garden looking beautiful too.

If you’re after inspiration, look out for sweetheart benches with carved hearts that guests can sit on for either the ceremony or the reception.  You can also place some shabby chic floral deckchairs around the seating area for an informal seating plan.

One very simple way to add even more shabby chic to your garden affair is to make the most of garden lighting.  By placing pretty mismatched tea light holders on tables and on the ground and on walls, you can create a lovely feel of gentle light on your big day.

So, if you are a bride hoping for some late sunshine for your garden wedding, we wish you luck and and crossing our fingers along with you!
