Then, once you begin to get used to your new home, it is time to think about putting your own stamp on the place with home accessories which can help to turn your house into your home.
So, where do you begin with this mammoth task? There is so much choice available in the way of home accessories from feature wall designs through to the smaller touches such as fabric accents to highlight sections of your home. Using your favourite colours and textures for your design ideas will give it that personal touch and it’s good to experiment to see what works and what doesn’t – paint is great for this as you can always re-paint. Forget about trying to get everything to match as it isn’t your house’s purpose to look like a show home! Experiment with patterns if you never have done before, it can bring a whole new dimension to a room that you wouldn’t normally have thought of.
One of the easiest home accessories is mirrors and they can brighten a room in an instant by reflecting more light back into your space. A well-placed mirror can make the smallest space seem much bigger. You could even try grouping a few mirrors together to see how they look – there’s no right or wrong way to decorate your home, the fun is all in the experimentation so go crazy! A great tip to see how things might look on a wall before you start banging nails in the wall is to set them out on the floor first to see how they might work together. If you still can’t get a good idea of the space then cut templates out of paper the same size as the mirrors or pictures that you want to hang and then blu-tac them onto the wall to get an idea of spacing. Try the real thing up against the wall colour to be sure and if it looks great first time, then well done you, you’re obviously have a natural flair for interior design. More often than not, you will need to play around for a while with different ideas and schemes before you get exactly the right look for your home.
